Reverend Ethan Edwards, disillusioned by
religion, which he says is "too much man
and not nearly enough God," is ready to
resign... That is until he receives an
offer he can't refuse: to preside over a
funeral that no other minister in town
would be caught dead at.
Meanwhile, associates of the deceased
hide out in the back booth of a greasy
spoon caf'e, their grief overshadowed by
conspiracy and condemnation. Together
they try to summon the courage to risk
attending the wake to say their final
goodbyes.
However... when Reverend Edwards,
together with the deceased's friends and
foes gather for the funeral, something
goes inexplicably wrong.
